LED division signs second top five LED vendor

Abacus Group has signed a franchise agreement with a second Top Five LED vendor, the Taiwanese manufacturer Edison Opto. The agreement gives Abacus full access to Edison’s extensive portfolio of high power LED lighting technology.

 According to Glenn Jarrett, Abacus Group Semiconductor Marketing Director, the new agreement significantly broadens the range of high power LED solutions that AbacusLED can offer. “We are particularly excited about the opportunity to offer full custom solutions to address specific lighting needs,” he said. “Edison has an extensive portfolio of off the shelf packaging and lensing technologies, and can offer an LED lighting system to meet most illumination needs, including the replacement of existing incandescent, halogen or fluorescent lighting. Its design team in Taiwan is also available to create specific solutions to address individual customer requirements.”

Eddy Kao, of Edison Opto, added, “LED lighting is a fast growing and energy efficient technology, and AbacusLED is at the forefront of taking this concept to market. We are impressed by Abacus’ technical and logistical support, and are excited by their plans for taking our technology to a new and wider base of customers in the UK. Abacus’ concept of working with customers not only in selecting the right lighting product, but also implementing the right driver and thermal management solutions enables customers to get the longest operating life and the highest efficiency from their Edison Opto solution.”

Edison Opto is being introduced by the new dedicated LED and solid state lighting resource, AbacusLED, which already offers its customers LED light sources from OSRAM and Everlight, drivers from Texas Instruments, National Semiconductor and ST Microelectronics, thermal management solutions from 3M and Aavid Thermalloy. AbacusLED also has a well-resourced website, featuring selector guides for high power LEDs, LED drivers and associated products. Products can be selected by lumens output, luminous efficiency, colour temperature and package type.
